Sailing
The Chinese have long believed, and written that, the first
circumnavigators where Chinese sailing junks under the command of Zheng
He around 1421 A.D. sailing junks upto LOA 500 feet (150 metres).
China turned inwards after these voyages, and perhaps only now is starting
to reach out to the world? Gavin Menzes has written an interesting
book "1421" and has website

Maritime Museums
Link to the new and
privately funded "Hong Kong
Maritime Museum". This museum sells Tara models.
Link to the excellent "Macau Maritime
Museum". The Founder Contra-Almirante Artur Leonel Barbosa
Carmona was a Harbour Master in Macau and wrote and sketched excellent
drawings of local junks and sampans back in the 1920's. This is
the oldest museum in Macau.
